Hyundai Grandeur

Hyundai introduced the Grandeur (Hangul:현대 그랜저) in 1986, and the car has evolved now into its fourth generation.
The third generation vehicle was marketed as the Hyundai XG in North America, while the fourth generation model was renamed the Azera in North America, Asia (outside South Korea and Japan), South Africa, and South America. The Grandeur nameplate is currently in use in South Korea, Japan, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
The first Grandeur was a rebadged Mitsubishi Debonair that was produced by Hyundai. Initially launched with Mitsubishi-sourced 2.0L SOHC MPI engine also used in 1st generation Sonata. 2.4L SOHC MPI engine had added in 1987 and V6 3.0L engine model launched in 1990 to compete with Daewoo Imperial.
The New Grandeur and the third generation of the Mitsubishi Debonair were the products of a joint development between Hyundai and Mitsubishi Motors. Mitsubishi was responsible for the powertrain, and Hyundai was responsible for the body and trim design. Production of the car began in September 1992 and ended in 1998.
The “New Grandeur” came in various trim levels and 4 engine variations (4-cylinder 2.0L and three V6 engines (2.5L, 3L, and 3.5L).
Although it was not exported outside the home market, the second generation Grandeur was success in Korean domestic market as the flagship sedan of Hyundai lineup. For a long time, this model was sort of status symbol in Korea.
The Grandeur XG was a mid-size luxury car. In some other markets, namely North America, it was called the Hyundai XG. It shared a platform and engines with the Kia Amanti.
The XG300 debuted in 2000 with a 3.0 L Sigma V6.
It was called the XG30 in Europe and in Asian countries. It was produced from 2001 - 2003. A 2.5 litre model was also produced in some countries. The XG30 boasted many options available to only high end luxury models at the time such as the Mercedes E-class and BMW 5 series. The XG30 is also longer and wider than most of its rivals, and is just a fraction smaller than the Audi A6.
Performance-
Acceleration: 0-60 mph - 8.5 seconds Top speed: 225 km/h (140 mph) Power: 193 bhp (144 kW)
The XG350 name was used as of 2002 to reflect the new 3.5 L version of the Sigma V6. Has a L model too with more options like shiftronic, Heated seats, 210 Watt Infinity sound system with 6 Speakers & trunk mounted 8 Disk Cd changer. Wood and leather steering wheel, moon roof, 10 spoke alloy rims. and has around 200 hp (150 kW).
The Grandeur TG is a full-size sedan introduced for the 2006 model year. A redesigned XG350, it shares a platform with the Sonata. It is sold as the Hyundai Azera in North America, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Iran, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Singapore, Peru, Chile and Brazil.
Being a step up from the Sonata, the Azera is priced at US$24,995 for a base model, US $27,495 for the Limited version, and $29,995 for the Ultimate Package. The flagship Azera will be the most luxurious sedan Hyundai is selling outside of Korea, China, and the Middle East, until 2008, when an all-new rear-wheel drive luxury sedan called the Genesis is released under the Hyundai name in North America to test the waters for a future luxury brand.
The Azera has a four-wheel independent suspension (multi-link in the rear) and uses the company’s new 3.8 L Lambda V6, which produces 265 hp (196 kW). The power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission with a “Shiftronic” manual gear selection. Hyundai claims 6.0 s to accelerate to 60 mph (97 km/h) and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Fuel economy of 19 mpg (12.4 L/100 km) in the city and 28 mpg (8.4 L/100 km) on the highway is expected.
The 2.2 VGT CRDI diesel engine from the Santa Fe is also available in Europe.
The Limited trim level adds 17 in alloy wheels, heated front seats, leather seat-upholstery, and a power sun shade in the rear window. The Ultimate Package includes an enhanced audio system with 10 speakers and a 6 CD changer, a power sunroof, telescopic steering wheel, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Hyundai Coupe

The Hyundai Tiburon (a.k.a. Hyundai Coupé) is a compact coupe produced by Hyundai since 1996. The name itself means “shark” in Spanish. Tiburon is the name given to the current North American, Australian, New Zealand, South African, and Austrian production of the vehicle, though it is called the Hyundai Coupe in world markets. It has also been known by the moniker Turbulence and Tuscani in the South Korean market.
The model has been released in two generations (RD and GK) over its lifespan and in that time these generations have been subject to periodic facelifts. These facelifts have attempted to keep the car up to date with various safety improvements and a mixture of changes to exterior and interior styling. The RD Tiburon was in production for 5 years from 1996 to 2001. The GK Tiburon has been produced since 2002 and is still in production in its latest guise.
Enthusiasts sometimes refer to it using the nickname ‘Tib’ or ‘Tibby’ in the markets in which it is called the Tiburon.
Hyundai officially announced that the 2008 model year will be the last for the Tiburon. While no replacement has been announced, Hyundai has officially stated that the 2010 Genesis coupe is not a Tiburon replacement.
Tiburon first began production in late 1996. It was available in a few foreign markets with engine choices of either 1.6L or 1.8L. In the United States, the Tiburon was first offered in 1997 with base models using the Elantra’s 1.8L 130 hp (97 kW) engine while the upscale FX received a 2.0L four-cylinder engine. The 2.0L was rated at 140 hp (104 kW) at the crankshaft (the car’s manual specifies 102 kW (137 hp) at the flywheel). Base weight was around 2,550 lb (1,150 kg), giving the RD Tiburon a higher power to weight ratio than the newer GK 2.0L. The 2.0L produces a 0-60 mph time of ~7.9 seconds, with a 1/4 mile time of ~16 seconds. In 1998 the Tiburon lost its weaker 1.8L engine, giving both models the 2.0L. All versions of the Tiburon manufactured from 1996-2001 are known as “RD” Tiburons. There were various options, with or without ABS, 2 airbags, leather, and sunroof.
In Australia, the 1996–2000 Hyundai Coupe was assessed in the Used Car Safety Ratings 2006 as providing “worse than average” protection for its occupants in the event of a crash, based only on statistics data.
The RD2 Tiburon is an update on the original RD platform and was released for sale in 2000. The RD2 received a facelift that altered the front and rear bumpers and also provided a refreshed interior dash. In South Korea, the RD2 Tiburon was marketed as the “Tiburon Turbulence”.
The RD2 headlights have separate enclosures for the high and low beams giving the four headlight look, similar to the third generation Acura Integra and the sixth generation Toyota Celica. The rear bumper is also reformed receiving larger tailights. The same 140 hp (104 kW) 2.0L engine was carried over producing identical performance. ABS and sunroof were available in a package.
105 hp (78 kW) @ 5800 rpm and 143 N•m (106 ft•lbf) torque @ 4,500 rpm.
130 hp (97 kW) @ 6000 rpm and 171 N•m (126 ft•lbf) torque @ 4200 rpm.
140 hp (104 kW) @ 6000 rpm and 180 N•m (133 ft•lbf) torque @ 4800 rpm.
From 1997 to 1999 The Tiburon was offered with a 5-speed manual transmission standard while a 4 speed automatic w/ overdrive was optional.
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 11.6 seconds Top speed: 115 mph (185 km/h)
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 9.0 seconds Top speed: 123 mph (198 km/h)
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 8.0 seconds Top Speed: 137 mph (220 km/h)
The previous-generation Tiburon expired after 2001. Hyundai launched a revised Tiburon in 2002 for the 2003 model year, giving it new styling, larger dimensions, and an optional V6 engine. Tiburon’s wheelbase and overall length grew slightly compared to the previous version, increasing curb weight by about 200 pounds. Base and GT V6 models were offered, both with standard front side airbags and optional antilock braking. Base Tiburons retained a new 138 hp (103 kW) 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while GT V6 coupes got the new 2.7-liter 172 hp (128 kW) V6 from Hyundai’s Sonata and Santa Fe. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, and a four-speed automatic was optional. The automatic unit had a manual shift gate. Also optional on the GT V6 was a six-speed manual gearbox. Base models rode on 16-inch tires, versus 17-inch for the GT V6. Both had standard four-wheel disc brakes. Leather upholstery was standard in the GT V6, which could also have a rear spoiler and aluminum pedals. A sunroof was optional.
In 2005 Hyundai facelifted the Tiburon and reshuffled the model lineup; offering GS, GT, and SE models. Hyundai’s four-cylinder engine went into the GS, while the other two held the 2.7-liter V6. A five-speed manual transmission was standard. A four-speed automatic with a manual shift was optional for GS and GT models, but the SE had exclusive use of a six-speed manual gearbox. Antilock braking was standard on the SE and optional for the GT coupe, which could be equipped with leather upholstery. GS coupes rode on 16-inch wheels, versus 17-inch for other models. All-disc brakes and front side airbags were standard. Anti-lock brakes were made standard on all 2006 model Tiburons.
In the UK, three models were available before and after the 2005 facelift: the 1.6S, 2.0SE and V6. The 1.6S had a single exhaust and leather seats were optional. Both other models have twin exhausts and leather seats as standard. The six-speed gearbox was also standard on the V6 model.
Hyundai recently announced that following the 2008 model year, the Tiburon will end production. Since Hyundai has on more than one occassion said that the Genesis coupe is not a replacement for the Tiburon, this leaves the possibility open of a future front-wheel drive sports coupe.
Hyundai conducted minor tweaks to the ‘GK’ model in 2005, for the outgoing named 2006. The vehicle incorporated reworked sleeker blackened headlights, redesigned rear tail lights, more aggressive front air dam, a different range of alloy wheel designs, colored stitching on leather seats (half leather seats available for the 1.6 range).
A popular modification saw owners of the 2003 vehicle removing the air-filter resonator box. The resonator box was located directly in front of the front left hand side wheel, behind the fender. This allowed for a greater airflow to the air filter, gaining a minimal increase of brake horse power (bhp). Hyundai, seeking cost cuts, adopted this modification for 2004+ models. Hyundai also released a new color for their 2006 Tiburon called Regatta blue, between Tidal Wave blue and Midnight blue, which is Metallic. This color is also available for the 2007 Elantra and Tiburon.
A more comprehensive facelift was launched in 2007, named the Coupe SIII in markets such as the UK, this time altering the appearance of the car enough to designate it the fourth generation or GK F/L reminiscent of the RD1 and RD2 denotations.
The headlights are thinner and angled more aggressively; somewhat similar to the original Tiburon headlights with more straight/sharp lines. The tail lights are similar to the RD2 and GK1 but are somewhat smaller and reflect an aftermarket styling. The fenders lose the “gill fins” and other small changes are seen.
The interior is updated with brushed aluminum accents, new blue backlight scheme for gauges and instrumentation and new seats.
The exact specification depends on model and the market where it is sold but these are some of the features available:
The 2004–2007 models received a 4/5 star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the USA.
141 hp (105 kW) @ 6000 rpm and 184 N·m (136 ft·lbf) torque @ 4500 rpm.
172 hp (128 kW) @ 6000 rpm and 245 N·m (181 ft·lbf) torque @ 3800 rpm.
In 2002 the 5-speed retained standard on the GS, GT, and GT Limited, while the upscale SE model came only with a six-speed manual. A four-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic was available for all models.
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 9.2 seconds Top speed: 130 mph (209 km/h)
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 8.2 seconds Top speed: 132 mph (212 km/h)
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 7.7 seconds Top speed: 137 mph (220 km/h)
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 7.2 seconds Top speed: 145 mph (233 km/h)
In several markets the model is sold and branded as a Tuscani. The Tuscani wears a circular badge containing a smaller circle of black and grey horizontal bars which is overlaid with a letter ‘T’ painted gold on the left and silver on the right. Even in markets where the car is sold as a Hyundai Tiburon or Hyundai Coupe, the name Tuscani has become quite popular. Many cars have been modified aftermarket to be rebadged with Tuscani emblems. In Canada, a special edition of the Tiburon is sold as a “Tuscani edition”. A rumour has started to circulate that Hyundai is considering a plan to branch off the Tuscani name as a complete sub brand for more exclusive, sporty, and upmarket models. The existence of the name is most likely to achieve greater sales where the Hyundai name has cloying associations with more budget products.
In some markets secondary badging may denote engine size and variations such as trim, wheel, and other options. These badges include GS, GT, SE and FX, although some use FX across the entire range available. In certain markets, certain exterior colors are not available and identification may require noticing subtle local differences such as alloy wheels, spoilers or dealer fit options such as in car entertainment systems. These can all change from year to year and from market to market, so the variation is quite significant. One notable difference is that the 1.6 engine always has a single exhaust on the right hand side, in all markets where it is sold.

Hyundai Accent

The Hyundai Accent (sold in some regions as the Verna and until 2000 in Australia as the Excel) is a subcompact car produced by Hyundai in South Korea, India, Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran.
The Accent is produced for the Chinese market by Beijing Hyundai Co., a joint venture with Beijing Automotive Industry Corp. For Russian market it is assembled by TagAZ plant in Taganrog. In Mexico, the Accent is marketed by Chrysler as the Dodge Attitude, previously Verna by Dodge. In Venezuela, Chrysler marketed the Brisa de Dodge until 2006. The Brisa is assembled by Mitsubishi Motors at its plant in Barcelona, Venezuela. Since 2002, the Accent had been the longest-running subcompact sold in North America. In Puerto Rico, it has been sold as the Hyundai Brio.
The Hyundai Accent (X3) was introduced as a replacement for the Excel for the 1995 model year. It continued to be called Excel in some international markets like the Netherlands and Australia, though. In France, it was called the Hyundai Pony. In Australia, the X3 proved so popular (due to it’s low price) that it was the third best-selling vehicle in the country in both 1996 and 1998. In the latter year, it achieved more than 44,000 sales (a 5.5% share of the total market), a record figure at the time, for an imported car. Between 1994 and 2000, some 200,000 X3s were sold in Australia, making it arguably the most successful imported vehicle in the country’s history.[citation needed]
The Accent was sold in saloon (sedan), hatchback, and coupé form in the UK, with a choice of two engines for each: a 1.3 and a 1.5 16v petrol. There was no diesel option (until the 2003 redesign). A GSi spec car was the top-specification Accent with front power windows and a radio/cassette player.
The MVi-spec coupé version won particular praise for its handling agility in the UK. Although the Accent was cheap to buy and insure, its engines were quite thirsty; the 1.5-litre returned 33mpg average according to list figures.
Though manuals exist for Accents before and after 1999, a manual for 1999 Hyundai Accent has not been published. Also 1999 Hyundai Accent owners were informed by their dealers that the horsepower of the 1.5L engine is actually rated at 88.[citation needed]
1998-1999 Hyundai Accent 3-door (US)
1998-1999 Hyundai Accent Sedan (US)
1995-1997 Hyundai Accent Sport 3-Door (North America)
The redesigned 2000 Accent (LC) sported a more angular body and increased dimensions. It received a minor facelift in 2003, and was given the model code LC2. When the Accent sedan underwent a 2006 redesign, the hatchback continued on sale during 2006 only in Canada, since the hatchback skipped the 2006 model year for the United States. But for Korea, it was the first model with the new nameplate: Verna.
The Accent got new 1.5-litre 12-valve SOHC and 16-valve DOHC engines: the 1.3 continued unchanged. A 1.6-litre replaced the 1.5 engine for 2000. This Accent was also the first to get a diesel version, with a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder direct injection turbodiesel, which was badged CRDi.
Trim levels were GSi, CDX and MVi: this was standard on most export versions, although some European markets had their own designations with names like DynamicVersion etc. Some markets used LS and GLS.
In North America the Accent was available in GL, GLS and GT trim levels only, with the 1.5-litre engine at first, then the 1.6-litre engine from 2003. The GT version was similar to the MVi version marketed in Europe and Australia.
During 2003 in Canada, the hatchback was offered as a GS or GSi with a 1.5L or 1.6L engine, respectively.

Hyundai introduced a new-generation Accent (MC) at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. A new exterior, larger interior, and CVVT engine are the notable features.
A single trim level, GLS, is available in the United States for the sedan. This sedan includes 6 airbags, air conditioning, power steering with tilt, four-wheel disc antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, and a 6-speaker CD stereo. Pricing starts at US$12,665, nearly $2,000 more expensive than a base 2005 model. A premium sport package, priced at $1,350, includes air conditioning, 15 in. alloy wheels, power windows and heated mirrors, and remote power door locks. An automatic transmission retails for $1000, bringing the price of a loaded Accent to $15,015.
Hyundai began selling the 3-door hatchback in the United States during the spring 2006 as a 2007 model year vehicle. The 3-door is available in two trims - GS and SE. The GS is equipped much like the GLS sedan, with some equipment deleted for a base price of US$10,415. The SE replaces the former Accent GT, offering a sport-tuned suspension, 16 in. alloy wheels, and other sporting features, along with available dealer-installed performance parts such as a cold-air intake and suspension stress bar. The SE is sold as the Verna Sport in Korea. The Hyundai Accent SR is exclusive to Canada and only 500 have been made, this version is like the Accent SE, but in addition has the fender flares, front lip, rear lip, and exhaust tip. Also included with the SR version is the Clarion sound system with , 4channel Amplifier with 400 Watts, 7 speaker Audio System, with 10-inch Subwoofer in a custom made box. Dash also has a Carbon Fiber Trim Kit added to it.
The Accent is presently the third-bestselling subcompact in the United States, trailing after its rivals the Chevrolet Aveo and Toyota Yaris.
In Europe, this model was heavily promoted by the motoring press, and even Hyundai themselves, as a “stopgap” model - that it was intended merely to plug the gap in Hyundai’s range until a brand new small family car was launched in 2007. This new car, the Hyundai i30 fills the void left by the Accent and the larger Hyundai Elantra. The name change came about so as to help distance the i30 from the budget reputation of the Accent, and also to highlight that the new car can truly compete in the small family hatchback sector - something the Accent was slightly too small to do, and the Elantra too large. The Accent will continue to be sold in the U.S. in 2008 with an instrument panel overhaul and standard rear cupholders in the SE model.
Engines:
In Mexico, this is marketed as the Dodge Attitude: trim levels are 1.4 GL and 1.6 GLS. Hyundai does not have any official representation in Mexico.
Interestingly, in India, it is marketed as Hyundai Verna. Previous generation is also under production and that is marketed as Accent.

Hyundai debuted a demonstration version of a hybrid (MC/JB) Accent at the 2005 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou, China. It uses a 90 hp (67 kW), 1.4 L engine with continuously variable valve timing and a 16 hp (11.9 kW) electric motor to achieve 44% better fuel economy. Though originally scheduled for production release in the 2006 model year, introduction of the production version has been delayed indefinitely, along with the Kia Rio hybrid.
The hybrid Accent is expected to be introduced at the same time as a hybrid version of the Kia Rio, the Kia twin of the Accent. A concept model of the Kia Rio hybrid was shown at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show.
1st gen Hyundai Accent had been crash tested by Euro NCAP and showed rather poor performance, scoring only 4 points of 16 for frontal impact. Though the Swedish insurance company Folksam is rating the 1st gen Accent as one of the safest cars in its weight class.
Pre-2003 model (a 3-door hatchback) had been crash tested by Australian ANCAP under the same rules as adopted by Euro NCAP. It performed much better, scoring 10.76 out of 16 points for frontal offset impact and 10.96 out of 16 in the side impact test.
The same un-restyled model, this time a 4-door sedan (which is still in production in Russia) had been crash tested by Russian magazine Autoreview in 2005. Test was carried out to the same Euro NCAP regulations. Despite the lack of airbags (which are not available in the cheapest version of Accent on the Russian market) it scored 9.9 of 16 for frontal impact.
The 2003 restyled model was tested by ANCAP, too. The 3-door hatchback scored 9.19 of 16 points for frontal impact and 9.76 out of 16 in the side impact crash test.
New Hyundai Accent had been tested by ANCAP in 2007. It scored 9.37 of 16 in the offset crash test and 10.85 out of 16 in the side impact crash test.
Hyundai’s Accent World Rally Car competed in an official capacity, spawning three generations, in the World Rally Championship from 2000 to 2003. The car was eventually retired from service before its final season was out, with no major victories or podiums. The car, though, in such capable hands across its lifespan as four-times driver’s champion Juha Kankkunen, ex-Subaru rally-winning and former Group A Champion Kenneth Eriksson and former British Rally Champion Alister McRae, albeit the former two in the twilight of their careers, was reasonably competitive at times and showed some promise. Belgian Freddy Loix and 1991 Rally Catalunya winner Armin Schwarz were among the other drivers so long synonymous with life in the works-fettled Accents.
In Australia the X3 Excel (First Generation Accent) is the basis of a one make rally series, and is the most popular one of its type in Australia.[citation needed]
The Excel Rally Series has a website and forum where current and potential competitors can ask questions, discuss the cars and competition, and learn how to become involved.
In India, Hyundai is the sole engine supplier for Formula LGB Hyundai, built by the Chain and Sprocket giant LGB. The single make series is promoted at grassroots level acting as a launch pad for future Formula 1 hopefuls. The Accent engine is supplied in Stock form albeit after some ECU modifications.

Hyundai Amica

The Hyundai Atos is a city car produced by the Hyundai Motor Company. The original Atos was introduced in 1997. In 1999, it was joined by the less controversially styled Hyundai Atos Prime. It uses the G4HC Epsilon straight 4 engine. The mkII version comes with a 1086cc G4HG engine.
The 2000 - 2003 model has the following performance figures.

The Atos Prime is marketed as the Hyundai Amica in the United Kingdom, and is also rebadged as the Dodge Atos in Mexico and Kia Visto in Indonesia and South Korea.
The Hyundai Santro is a rebadged version of the city car Hyundai Atos sold in some Asian markets.
Hyundai entered the Indian market through the Santro whose main rival at that time was the popular Maruti Suzuki Zen. The company got actor Shah Rukh Khan to endorse the Santro and although the radical styling was not accepted by everyone, the car was an instant hit. It is still undergoing number of improvements and face lifts to suit the indian customers. The main rival of santro in the current market is Suzuki Wagon R and Maruti Zen Estilo.
In 2003, older models were replaced by the second generation Atos Prime as Santro Xing which is also very popular in India.
The Santro was launched in Pakistan in 2000. Having struggled a tough stance and low customer interest initially, the new Santro Club and Santro Exec created an impact in the market, which exists to date.
In Malaysia, Hyundai Atos is locally assembled by Inokom carrying the badge Inokom Atos. The Inokom Atos Prima was later introduced in 2006 which is has the new Atos Prime front while maintaining the original Atos rear.
The recently launched Hyundai i10 is seen as an eventual replacement for the Atos in several markets, probably by the later part of 2008. In some markets, like India, the Atos (sold as the Santro Xing) still remains a very popular model, especially after significant price cuts by Hyundai to place it below the i10. Here the Atos and the i10 will co-exist for quite some time to come, with the i10 pitted against the likes of the Maruti Zen Estilo, while the Santro(Atos) is offered as an alternative to the Suzuki Alto.
Hyundai unveiled at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show an electric vehicle based on the the Atos, the Atos EV. The Atos EV weights 2585 lb (1173 kg), including the battery pack, which holds 24 nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries. An on-board 6.6 kW conductive charger can fully recharge the Ni-MH batteries in seven hours.
The Atos EV can travel more than 120 miles (193 km) in stop and go city driving and can reach a top speed of 80 mph (130 km/h).

Hyundai Getz

The Hyundai Getz (also sold as the Hyundai Click or Hyundai TB) is a supermini car produced by the Hyundai Motor Company. It is available in three and five door hatchback body styles, and with a 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission.
At launch in 2002, 1.1, 1.3 and 1.5-litre petrol or 1.5-litre turbodiesel engines were available. From 2004, a new 1.1 litre engine was introduced to the line and a 1.4 litre engine replacing the 1.3 litre. A 1.6 litre engine replaced the 1.5 litre. However, availability of engine options varies depending on market.
The 1.6 litre gasoline engine is unavailable in New Zealand, and some countries in South-East Asia and South America
A facelift for the 2006 model saw the Getz receiving a 4 cylinder 1.5 litre diesel option, upgraded dash and interior facia and trim, new front and rear styling, driver and front passenger air bags. In the UK side airbags were fitted to all models as standard.
Trim levels in the were UK GSi, CDX and Sport. However, in Australia and New Zealand XD and XE were the main trim levels.
In Australia, the 2002-04 Hyundai Getz was assessed in the Used Car Safety Ratings 2006 as providing “significantly worse than average” protection for its occupants in the event of a crash..
Conversely, the car was awarded a respectable 4 stars (out of five) in its 2004 EuroNCAP crash tests. It turned in what EuroNCAP described as a “reasonably balanced performance” and “generally good” in-car protection for children. It was noted, however, that the design of the car did little to protect pedestrians.
Reflecting market priorities and price point control, some safety equipment is either unavailable or available only as extra-cost options on some models in some markets. The South African market version, for example, is not available with side airbags at any price and makes do without a rear foglight and a third three-point seatbelt on the rear seat. In the Philippines and south America, the Getz is not fitted with airbags or ABS brakes as standard.
In Venezuela, the Hyundai Getz is badge engineered as the Dodge Brisa. This new model replaces the Accent-based Brisa that debuted in that market in April 2002.
In Malaysia, the Hyundai Getz is locally assembled as the Inokom Getz. The model offers both manual and automatic transmission with a single 1.4L petrol engine option.
In late 2008 or early 2009, the Getz will be replaced by in Europe the new i20 model.

Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson is a compact crossover SUV launched in 2005 by the Korean automaker Hyundai. It shares its Elantra-based platform with the redesigned 2005 Kia Sportage. The Tucson is slotted below the Santa Fe in the lineup. Tucson is known as a worldwide success in most countries because of its balance between comfort, space, and price.
Powertrains are a 2.0 L I4 with a five-speed, front-wheel drive manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic transmission with “sport shift” manual shifting capability or a 2.7 L V6 available with the automatic only. Four wheel drive is optional with a Borg-Warner torque controller system. In some markets, the Tucson is also available with a 2.0 L diesel engine equipped with common rail technology. The earlier diesels had 113 bhp, and the later ones 140 bhp and a 6 speed manual gearbox. These later models are capable of returning over 45 mpg with almost the same performance as the 2.7L petrol engined models.
In the United States, the Tucson is offered in base GLS, mid-line SE, and top-tier Limited (formerly LX) trim levels for 2007 models. Earlier 2005 and 2006 models were offered as GL/GLS/Limited. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, six airbags, electronic stability control, a CD player, alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, and premium cloth seats. The SE adds to the roster with contrasting gray body cladding, a different alloy design, an AM/FM/Cassette/CD as well as fog lights and a front windshield wiper de-icing grid. The Limited adds leather seating surfaces, a 6-disc in dash CD changer, body-colored cladding, automatic climate control, and heated seats. The SE and Limited are only available with the 2.7-liter V6. The GLS comes only with the 2.0-liter four cylinder.
The Tucson offers modest cargo space but its easy-to-fold seats can expand this volume. Even the front passenger seat folds flat for extra-long cargo. All Tucsons come with this feature.
One major selling point of the Tucson is its safety feature content. There are dual-stage frontal impact airbags, torso side-impact airbags built into the front seats, and curtain airbags for side-impact protection for front and rear passengers. The front passenger airbag has a deactivation feature where if the seat is unoccupied, the airbag will not deploy in the event of a frontal collision, saving on repair costs.
The Tucson received accolades from Canadian Car of the Year Best New Crossover award for 2005.
Changes for 2006 were minimal. The LX became the Limited and got color-coded cladding, automatic climate control, and a high-performance sound system . The GLS retained the gray cladding but ‘HYUNDAI’ is no longer branded into the cladding on the front doors. The GLS also got improved cloth seats with the option of a heating element. Both GLS and Limited got redesigned alloy wheels. The base GL remains unchanged.
Changes for 2007 were also minimal. The GL and GLS trims were renamed to GLS and SE, respectively, to match the standard for all new Hyundai vehicles.

Hyundai Sonata

The Hyundai Sonata is a mid-size sedan built by the Hyundai Motor Company. Production started with the model of 1988, with redesigns in 1992, 1995, 1998, 2002, and 2006.
The original Sonata (Y1) was part of Hyundai’s expansion in North America after the success of the Excel. It was introduced in South Korea on June 1, 1987. It was then introduced in Canada in September 1987 as a 1988 model, and in 1988, as a 1989 model in the United States. The exterior was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign. The vehicle received a mid-term facelift in 1992. It replaced the Stellar as Hyundai’s large family car. Sonatas were built in Asan, Korea, and in Bromont, Quebec.
The Sonata was designed by Hyundai, however it still featured some of Mitsubishi’s engineering, including its 2.4 L 110 hp (82 kW) Sirius I4 engine as used in American-market models. . A 3.0 L V6 based on the Mitsubishi 6G72 arrived in 1990. The U.S. model received the 2.0 L engine for the 1992, replacing the original 2.4 L engine.
Trim levels were:
1993-1994 Hyundai Sonata
The second-generation Sonata (Y2) debuted in 1994, as a 1995 model. The base engine in most markets was a 2.0 L 126 hp (94 kW) Sirius I4, but there was a 3.0 L, 142 hp (106 kW) Mitsubishi V6 option in some markets. This generation continued after the demise of the Bromont, Quebec plant in September 1993. After that, all Sonatas would be built in Korea, until the opening of the Beijing Hyundai plant in December 2002.
A relatively adventurous facelift for the Sonata (Y3) in 1997 saw the exterior style begin to look more upmarket, with Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz styling designs in the headlight area. The rear end also began to look more upmarket—only the central section was retained. Sales were up 25% that first year.[citation needed] The four-cylinder engine was up to 137 hp (102 kW) that year as well.
1997-1998 Hyundai Sonata
A new model arrived in 1998 (1999 for North America), launching the (EF) series. The styling was slightly less aggressive, and modeled more on a Hyundai’s prototype showed earlier that year. This redesign kept the German influences, but bore an unintentional resemblance to the Ford Taurus as well.
Engines were 2.4 L 138 hp (103 kW) Hyundai Sirius and a 2.5 L 170 hp (127 kW) Hyundai Delta V6 A special 10-year warranty, along with even more upscale touches and a still-low price, boosted sales considerably in the US.
2001 Hyundai Sonata (Euro-spec)
A very Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar-esque look was added to the old underpinnings for 2000, the new model debuting in the American market for the 2002 model year (Sonata EF2). The 2002 model featured the all-aluminum, DOHC 2.7 L Hyundai Delta V6 powered the Sonata with 173 hp (129 kW). It also featured the same Sirius II 4 cylinder which at the time made 149 hp (111 kW), 157 lbf·ft (213 N·m) of torque. Sales reached 104,000 for 2004.
The Kia Optima (called the Magentis in Canada and Europe) was based on the same automobile platform of this generation of Sonata and shared the same doors and some others panels.
This Sonata also lent its platform to the first-generation Hyundai Santa Fe, a crossover SUV.
This generation of Sonata is still being built (since 2002) and sold in China as of September 2006 by Beijing Hyundai Co. and in Russia by TagAZ.
The totally redesigned 4th generation Sonata was launched in August 2004 in Korea. A new platform also was created out of the project NF (Neverending Fame & Faith) for total cost of 290 billion won. The company’s first all-aluminum I4 engine, dubbed Theta, debuted in the new Sonata. Engine choices at launch were a 2.4 L I4 that produces 164 ps at 5,800 rpm and a 3.3 L Template:Convert/HP V6.
The U.S. launch of the new Sonata kicked off with the historical opening of the first U.S. assembly plant for the Korea-based Hyundai Motor Company in May 2005. The plant is located in Montgomery, Alabama. Car & Driver claims the car will launch to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 6.6 sec source: Car and Driver, and has a top speed of 147 mph (236 km/h) which was not tested on a dynamometer for the V6. The car has been frequently noted to go over 150 mph (240 km/h) at Hyundai’s proving grounds most likely due to the gear ratios of the sedan or a coincidental slipstream.
2006/2007 models of this sedan did not receive a speed limiter, but U.S. officials are planning to add a limiter because of the powerful transmission when combined with the V6 version. Recently Goodyear, Arizona resident Lawrence Pargo was accused of doing 147 mph (236 km/h) in a rental Sonata. He was recorded by the traffic cameras of the Arizona highway patrol. .
The fourth generation Sonata has beyond the usual rate been used as a commercial vehicle in Northern Europe. This has widely been regarded as unusual, because “far-Eastern vehicles” such as Hyundai and Toyota have received limited success in the commercial vehicle market in Europe by the 2000’s.
The new Sonata is 2 in (50.8 mm) longer and taller and 1 in (25.4 mm) wider than the previous generation. The US EPA now classifies the Sonata as a “large car”. It is priced at US$19,395 for the base GLS 4 Cylinder. A V6 Limited Sonata starts at US $24,795. Prices include freight and handling.
The Sonata was facelifted for the 2008 model year as the Hyundai Sonata Transform in Korea. The facelifted Sonata debuts elsewhere as a 2009 model. There are modest changes in exterior(mostly in Front) and interior(mostly in Center Fascia) as well as powertrain. It equips 2.0L Theta II engine with 163ps@6,200/20.1kg.m@4,600 or 2.4 Theta II with 180ps@6,000/23.5kg.m@4,000.
The US and Canadian models are marketed as the 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The list of revisions include a redesigned front fascia, taillights, interior, and wheels. Two powertrains are available: 2.4L 175hp Theta II and 3.3L 249hp Lambda V6. The 2009 model is also available with an in-dash touch-screen navigation system, a first for the model in the market.
The European Sonata models will be renamed the i40, this is to fit in with the new naming structure that the company is using for their models following the launch of the i30 in late 2007.
The 4th Generation Sonata received many awards including:

Hyundai Matrix

The Hyundai Matrix (sold in South Korea as the Lavita and in Australia as the Elantra Lavita) is a MPV sold by the Hyundai Motor Company. The vehicle was designed by the Italian car designer company Pininfarina. Even though the car is likely to be used as a leisure activity vehicle rather than an MPV, Hyundai state it is a MPV based on the tall roofline.[citation needed]
The Matrix is a five-seater hatchback and is available in 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8-litre petrol engines. The 1.8 has a top speed of 114 mph (183 km/h) and a 0-60 mph time of 11.3 seconds. In Europe there are versions also available with turbo diesel engines.
In Malaysia, the Matrix is locally assembled as the Inokom Matrix. The Inokom Matrix is available in both 1.6L & 1.8L petrol engine options.
For 2008, Hyundai unveiled a facelifted version of the Matrix at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2008. It has undergone major changes to the front fascia, similar in style to the Hyundai i30. New wheels are also part of the slew of changes. The C-pillar window kink has been eliminated. Minor changes have also been made to the interior.
