Mercedes S400 Hybrid Car
It seems that the next generation of cars is upon us! Hybrid cars are among the very latest engineer designs to go into production. One of the vehicles I came across is the critically acclaimed “world’s most economical petrol powered saloon” S400 by Mercedes. It has a Co2 rating of just 190 km and an economy figure of 35.8 miles per gallon. The only downside to this remarkable piece of equipment is that only those stateside will benefit as there are no plans to offer it to UK customers. Not to worry though – I’m sure there are others that we will get our hands on. Having done a bit of research into the mechanics of hybrid systems I found that the way they work is by having an electric motor between the engine and the transmission. It is then equipped with an advance AC motor. The idea behind this is that the engine will capture any lost energy during breaking whilst driving. This is then stored within the battery. There was a little bit more to this but I found myself getting a bit confused!
